We offer remote work options!

Possibilities for remote work are a firm element of our corporate culture.

We offer remote work options in order to create optimal conditions that enable our employees to establish the best possible work-life balance. Employees can choose their work options in a manner that offers them the flexibility they need for their families, for example.

Indeed, after discussing your options with your supervisor, and provided your areas of responsibility allow for it, you can choose to work mostly from outside the office. Remote work doesn’t necessarily mean working from home. Instead, it is a hybrid model that makes it possible for our employees to work for us at any location in Germany – outside their office and also outside their home, depending on their needs and requirements. Remote work is also possible in selected countries on a temporary basis. All of this means we can offer our employees the greatest possible flexibility in terms of both working times and locations.

Details on remote work

Each department defines the scope of remote work permitted within its own organisation. It’s important that your colleagues can reach you when you work remotely.

Binding rule for all employees: You need to be present in your office at least once a month. Many teams meet once or several times a week in the office. Other teams that mostly work remotely hold monthly in-person meetings to exchange information and ideas or conduct certain activities.

Remote work from abroad

In line with our view of ourselves as an innovative employer, we also allow our employees to work remotely in European countries on a temporary basis. Whether you’re interested in inter-cultural experiences or special “workations” – it’s all possible when you work for us. Our employees can request remote work from abroad using an app designed for this purpose. Employees who wish to work from abroad must have their primary residence in Germany.

So will we soon only be employing digital nomads? Not really, since employees may only request remote work from abroad for a maximum of 20 continuous working days per country and year. At the moment, remote work under these conditions is possible in Denmark, France, Greece, IrelandItaly, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Spain.

We make remote learning possible

We also offer our apprentices and students in dual system programmes maximum flexibility for structuring their training and studies. Our goal here is to give them greater freedom so that they can largely organise their learning activities themselves.

If your programme and personal profile are determined to be suitable for remote learning, you will be able to meet with your training manager and jointly define the extent of your remote learning activities within the limits of what is possible in each case. When planning for remote learning, you should take into account the fact that no more than 20 per cent of your company training period may be used for remote learning, which also may not be conducted for more than ten consecutive working days.

Best equipment: We provide laptops and everything else needed for remote work

Volkswagen Group Services provides equipment such as laptops and computer monitors for remote work just as it does for work in offices. We also have desk-sharing programmes or alternative solutions in place at our locations in order to ensure productive on-site collaboration. Workshop rooms and special spaces for meetings make working in the office a shared experience.

Volkswagen Group Services also operates subsidised restaurants at many locations where employees can stop in for coffee breaks or lunch.

We are committed to consistent personnel development

As a result of innovations and changing requirements, the variety of projects and tasks is constantly growing for us as a company. That is why we systematically and sustainably promote the future-oriented development of our employees:

supervisors regularly discuss the employee's qualitative development and provide assistance in individual career planning. These are then coordinated with the personnel officer to introduce appropriate personnel development measures.

There is an extensive in-house program of qualification measures for professional, methodological and personal competence development. In addition, at the Volkswagen Group Academy and the AutoUni, our employees can also take part in advanced Group training courses and seminars.

This is our idea of a cooperative management style

Our employees are committed and carry out their tasks on their own responsibility. Together with their superiors, who exemplify a cooperative management style, our projects are brought to success for our customers. Cooperation based on partnership and mutual respect belong to our understanding of leadership and our staff mission statement.

Only those who are motivated do a good job. Our managers therefore ensure the professional development of their teams. As superiors, they pay attention to a moderate relationship between work and private life. They ensure this not least in the form of regular appraisal interviews and a balanced working time account (for non-managerial employees).

We promote a positive work-life balance

Not only since the pandemic has the compatibility of our employees' private and professional lives been close to our hearts.

We rely on individualized and flexible working conditions in order to create more creative freedom and self-determination in the new world of work. In addition to modern workplaces in the office and mobile work, this also includes, for example, company agreements such as "Meine Auszeit" or conversion options into additional "collectively agreed release days".

Our task in the Volkswagen Group

All companies in the Volkswagen Group contribute their share to implementing the NEW AUTO strategy. As a specialist service provider, we support the Group in many new areas with our know-how. Our range of services is constantly expanding in line with the changing requirements of new developments, such as digitisation and new forms of mobility.

Our affiliation with the Group enables us to work on Group-internal systems and platforms, thus simultaneously guaranteeing the protection of sensitive data. We are very familiar with processes, structures and quality standards.  With us, knowledge is permanently retained within the Group and synergies are exploited.

As a service provider, we can act more flexibly and quickly than an OEM. This creates excellence that repeatedly opens doors for new projects - as well as for individual career paths within the Group.
